The world is wide,
and mostly empty

I've spent the better part of a decade pointing a camera at places where people aren't. Remote valleys, high ridgelines, coastal fog banks at 5am. The work is about solitude and scale.

Based in the Pacific Northwest. Available for editorial and commercial assignments.

Current Series:
Empty Roads

A long-running project photographing the American West at hours when nobody's driving. Highway 50, US-93, Route 12. Infrastructure built for movement, caught standing still.

About

Blake Patterson,
photographer

Self-taught. Started with a Pentax K1000 borrowed from a garage sale in 2009. Moved through film to digital and back again. Currently shooting mostly medium format.

Work has appeared in Outside Magazine, National Geographic Traveler, and a handful of regional publications I'm proud of. Prints available on request.

I keep this site deliberately simple. No shop, no presets to sell. Just the work.
